Providing Refuge, Restoring Hope
Homelessness is not just about lacking shelter—it’s about instability, fear, and the daily fight to survive. In Southwest Florida, women and children are among the fastest-growing homeless populations. Many have fled domestic violence, faced unexpected financial crises, or lost support systems. Without intervention, these families remain trapped in a cycle of despair.
The Reality of Homelessness
🔹 Over 30% of Florida’s homeless population are families with children.
🔹 57% of homeless mothers report fleeing domestic violence.
🔹 Children experiencing homelessness are four times more likely to develop emotional and behavioral challenges.
For these families, the difference between security and the streets is often one unexpected expense, one lost job, or one crisis too many.

Milissa’s Story
Milissa had nowhere to turn after escaping an abusive relationship with her two children. She spent nights in her car, terrified and unsure of what to do next. When she found Thrive, everything changed. We provided her with immediate shelter, counseling, and resources to help her regain her independence. Today, Milissa is in stable housing, working full-time, and mentoring other women who face similar struggles.
